| Who is eligible for this plate? Any owner of a motor vehicle required to be registered for Kentucky highways who either serves in the U. S. Armed Forces (active duty, reserve or National Guard) or has retired from or been discharged from the U. S. Armed Forces in an honorable (I.E., no dishonorable or bad conduct) discharge. |

| Steps Required: Submit proof of eligibility to the county clerk. A current military Armed Forces of the United States Geneva Conventions Identification Card (ID card), discharge papers that state the condition of discharge, or other documentation that shows service, such as awards, citations, or promotions. If the clerk is unsure whether an individual qualifies, he/she may call the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs at 502-564-9203 or 1-800-572-6254 for a ruling. To personalize these plates submit an application along with $25.00 to the county clerk by September 1st of the year preceding the registration year. |

| Remarks: If the vehicle has a "regular" registration plate, that plate must be turned in to the County Clerk. Credit will be given for any months remaining on the "regular" registration. The personalized plate cannot conflict with the state number/letter system nor be offensive to good taste and decency. The customer has the option of ordering a "new" plate each year or renewing with a decal only. $5.00 of the initial fee goes to the fund and at renewal time, the individual has the option of donating a minimum of $5.00 to the fund. Maximum number of characters for this plate is five (5). |
